Sunday Night, MasterChef thump The Voice concert.

It was a decisive win by Seven yesterday with a 34.1% share to Nine’s 26.2%, TEN’s 20.9%, ABC’s 12.3% and SBS’ 6.5%.

Both Sunday Night and MasterChef whacked Nine’s one-off concert by the singers from The Voice.

Seven News was the top show of the night on 1.52m then Sunday Night winning its slot on 1.48m. Next were Downton Abbey (1.37m), Billy Connolly’s Route 66 (1.23m) and Castle (357,000).

Nine News scored 1.39m for Nine with 60 Minutes on 1.1m. But the Reaching Out special could only manage 1.00m across its 90 minutes. The Mentalist was 689,000 / 548,000. Footy Classified was 114,000 in 3 cities.

MasterChef won its slot on 1.46m for TEN, more than twice its next best: New Girl (698,000),  The Graham Norton Show (579,000), Last Man Standing (550,000), TEN News (422,000), The Project (350,000), MotoGP Live (254,000 in 3 cities, 59,000 in 2 cities on ONE).

ABC News topped ABC1 on 774,000 then Ian Thorpe: The Swimmer (677,000), Wallender (524,000), Compass (325,000) and Antiques Master (200,000).

Tour de France averaged 289,000 for SBS ONE followed by Death of the Megabeasts (234,000) and World News Australia (194,000).

Big Bang was best on multichannels with 257,000.

  1. I too agree with everyone. I am addicted to Downton Abbey.Along with Once and Revenge these are my 3 favourite shows right now. Its written so well and the acting is superb. I can’t wait for the finale next week and who knows S3 might be here sooner than we know if Seven fast-track it.

  2. Bruce Banner

I had no idea the Voice concert was on, I did see it mentioned on here, but forgot about it… saw the last half hour or so, but it was pretty boring. The judges/mentors made the show.

  3. Maybe The Voice was a one shot wonder or maybe Nine didn’t promote it enough? I haven’t watch much Nine of late as they don’t have much that interests me right now. I’ve been watching more or SBS and ABC lately than the other FTA channels.

  4. I enjoyed The Voice concert. Its a pity you need all the competitive reality drama to get monster ratings. Downton Abbey is brilliant. Seven should repeat some of the Billy Connerly shows they had several years ago. The were also good and i am sure they would rate again.

  5. Wow Channel Nine are really killing the goose that lay the golden egg with “Voice”concerts and the old tired American version. How desperate can a network get, big big mistake.

  6. The Voice is already starting to wane? I seriously watched like 10 minutes then switched off. I wasn’t interested really. Good night all round for Seven. Downton did well and Billy Connolly is proving very popular. I wonder if Seven has any more of his series that they could show. I think its going to be a great week for Seven.

  7. jezza the first original one

Once again ch9 relies upon ‘event’ tv for a ratings boost, where the other channels have a fairly stable and regular schedule. 9s approach is a failure of a credible strategy to rebuild its viewer base, they will boom one week and bust the next. This is not a great backdrop for advertisers to roll out a campaign. Still the big win for the year coming in about 10 days…

  8. I think part of the problem with this is that for all the guides it was called ‘Reach Out’. So my PVR didn’t pick it up as related to the Voice, and I missed around 20 minutes at the beginning because of that.

  9. I saw about 20 seconds of The Voice and they were performing some horrific Black Eyed Peas song that charted years ago, and is therefore insane for them to perform now. I actually thought it was the US version since the song was so old and the American version must be even worse than the Aussie one.

Hopefully they’re killed the franchise enough already that season 2 will be the last, and hopefully won’t even run to its conclusion.
