Update: TEN has a change of heart on screening the US edition of MasterChef.

Another bewildering idea from TEN’s Programming Department sees it schedule the US edition of MasterChef.

Featuring Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot it will premiere 7pm Friday August 24th.

It’s unclear how many episodes a week of this we’ll be copping -TEN already has Everybody Dance Now, Don’t Tell the Bride and I Will Survive set for its weeknight 7pm slot. If it’s just Fridays, it could run a very long time. Maybe that’s the plan?

Looks like they took inspiration from Nine screening the US version of The Voice (and didn’t that just do so well?).

Meanwhile, MasterChef: All Stars will wrap 6:30pm Sunday August 19.

Update: Cancel that.  TEN will now continue Jamie Does in the timeslot.

Fantastic , the US version is far better than the “lets suck up to each other” australian version , if a meal id rubbish they say it , the contestants dont pretend to be best friends . and its two eps a week instead of 6 , and yet they show all the same stuff … id be watching on ten if i had already sean all seasons and eps lol

  2. @orig jezza – I prefer to give them a thumbs-up for listening to feedback or coming to their senses over a silly decision, rather than chastising them for making a bad call and then berating them again when they realise their mistake and reverse it. Let’s leave that for the schoolyard and politicians.

  4. I rekon ten should try either bring the livingroom earlier on fridays or try it bewteen 6.30-7.30 sundays its a such a good show it deserves better.

  6. While in Asia at the end of last year I used to catch the US masterchef in the evenings. I actually quite enjoyed it. The main difference was there was someone I actively disliked on it! Which was a big plus.

  7. Hey folks…easy….friday night programming on channel 10, ie The Graveyard, why should we expect anything better?

    It is on par with their usual standard and will certainly be ‘fresher’ than Devil/Prada

  8. I actually love the US version of Masterchef. Its a lot shorter in length and has some great drama throughout. Mind you oversaturation yet again from TEN but i guess content is content. Beats reruns of Modern Family or some other show.

  11. Masterchef Aus : Feelgood, well cast TV with heart.
    Masterchef US : A heart attack served with every challenge. Drama! Bitching! Tears! I still watch it though…

  12. The US version is more sugary. They’re the only country that saw the Aussie version and thought its not contrived enough, we need even more bluster.

  13. Why is Everybody Dance Now on @ 7pm? I thought it was going to be on Sundays. if it is on too much people will not commit to so much viewing, I know I won’t!

  14. I think TEN should move The Living Room to 7pm. I wanted to see Masterchef US as there seems to be some good contestants. Saying that I think maybe it’ll work better on ONE or ELEVEN.

  15. Also, off topic a little but anyone else notice how Everybody Dance Now is on three-four nights a week next week? Talk about overkill. It looks like it has the potential to be a hit but up against The X Factor and Big Brother, there’ll be a lot of reality overload for Australian audiences

  16. The Voice US was a colossal flop for Nine, this will be as well for Ten. Australia got sick of Gordon Ramsay years ago when Hell’s Kitchen and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares both got pulled after one episode in 2009

    Then again it’s a Friday so I doubt anything they place there would rate any better

  19. I like the idea of seeing international versions of our reality shows, but they are more suited to weekend and digital channel programming as opposed to prime time weekday main channels.

    They will never do as well as the Aussie versions, especially if voting involved and are played months late – which was the problem with The Voice US on Nine.

    Masterchef UK will also soon air on Pay TV – and they have “Aussied” it up alot since last time I checked on the UK version. The food is still boring though, compared to ours.

  24. The US version is better IMHO. The contestants are a lot more catty with one another (none of this buddy buddy that we see on the Australian one) and if they are going to show the current season, there is a blind contestant who is simply amazing to see her cook, especially mystery box challenges.
