Edelstens deny “divorce” scripting

Geoffrey and Brynne Edelsten respond to claims they planned a "scripted" divorce as part of their series, My Bedazzled Life.

What’s real and what’s not in the observational genre is getting harder to determine as Geoffrey and Brynne Edelsten respond to claims they planned a “scripted” divorce as part of their series, My Bedazzled Life.

NineMSN website TheFIX claims to have overheard Brynne discussing plans to divorce her husband in a Melbourne restaurant, as part of the upcoming Seven show.

An unnamed fellow diner alleges, a producer “handed her a scripted piece of paper in respect of what to say on their so-called reality series.”

Brynne apparently agreed to play the “poor me” card and accepted the producer’s advice to time the split “in four weeks”.

The story follows News Limited recently reporting Geoffrey Edelsten had been in the US having a “weekend rendezvous with a mystery woman.”

The Edelstens have released a joint statement:

“The past weeks have definitely been trying for us. The misinterpretations and assumptions that the media continually speculate on with regards to our private life is incredibly frustrating.

“We have definitely gone through a difficult time on a personal level and for the record confirm that we both continually strive to maintain our marriage as a happy and loving one.

“This latest ‘story’, which is completely fabricated, is yet another example that when you are in the spotlight anyone feels that they can take a shot at you.

Brynne: My Bedazzled Life is not at any point scripted. It’s us living our lives … The good and the bad.”

Seven declined to comment on ThFIX’s witness claims.

  1. I like Brynne from what I’ve read and seen, although she is materialistic and a bit immature she seems to be nice enough, she handled herself really well on DWTS.

  2. It must be so hard to have to live your life in the public eye, having the press constantly pursuing you and writing stories about your marriage. Having to lunch with producers, constantly worrying about your ratings and whether your real life is, you know, real enough for TV.

    Oh, wait…

  3. “…with regards to our private life…”
    They’re both fame-whores, they don’t have a private life.

And sack your publicist – it’s “with regard”, singular. Regards, plural, is what you give somebody when you wish them well.

  4. “This latest ‘story’, which is completely fabricated …” Brynne herself is completely fabricated, or should that be pre-fabricated?
