Health show Tonic returns to ABC News 24 with an earlier timeslot later this month.

Dr Norman Swan and his team return for season four of Tonic. This health show takes no prisoners in its quest for the truth when it comes to our bodies and the things we pay people to do to them.

In episode one, the team looks at how depression affects men. It’s estimated one in six men will suffer from depression in their lifetime – and far fewer are treated. Tonic speaks to Clyde Rathbone, a former Australian Wallaby, about battling the depths of his depression while at the pinnacle of his elite sports career.

Tonic’s resident sceptic Rich Brophy takes a trip to the salon to find out if getting a faux glow is all is cracked up to be, and explores whether it’s a safer option than clocking time in the sun or in a solarium.

Being time poor is no longer an excuse for not getting regular exercise. Physiotherapist and sports physiologist Geoff Brockenshire takes Casey through the perfect 30 minute workout that can be done anywhere, anytime.

Tonic’s Food Fix looks at foods that help when it comes to your health. Studies have suggested chocolate can help improve feelings of depression, so Nikki Heyder bakes an indulgent chocolate cake with fresh berries – guaranteed to brighten your day.

Sunday, 26 August at 7.30pm on ABC News 24.
