Catriona Rowntree has been let go by Nine after 20 years with the Network.
Rowntree, 41, joined Nine as a researcher in 1992 and became Getaway presenter in 1996. As well has New Year’s Eve broadcasts and hosting duties at Nine Christmas lunch events, she was once touted as a permanent replacement for Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
But her contract has not been renewed by Nine, and follows the exit last week by Jules Lund.
The Australian reports Getaway is also tipped to be axed after 18 years because of low ratings. The show became a 5:30 weekend slot in mid-2011, drawing upon a branded-entertainment base. A spokeswoman for Nine said no decision had been made yet.
There is media speculation both Jules Lund and Liam Bartlett, who each left Nine to spend more time with family, may have both been dumped.

Getaway was one of the highest rating shows on Thursday nights and 9 always won Thursdays against 7 for years! Once Getaway was reduced to 1/2 hr eps and weekends, a great excuse to cut a show due to lower ratings!
Hello Ch9 reduced ratings by moving it and reducing it!!
I think Catriona is one of the most talented people on television. She has warmth and knows how to communicate. She was great on Triple J and 9. This could be a blessing in disguise. One door closes another opens and I open it is a presenting gig with 7. They seem to be cashed up
@Bella (Back in 2001) I had the privilege of meeting Catriona in Brisbane (At the time, Cat was & probably still is the most warmhearted, friendly, down to earth person I know).

Went to school with her husband, very nice lady, like to wish cr all the best for the future, I am sure she will get a job on one of the other channels.
There will be a lot of people leaving Nine as they try nd return to profit

Catriona Rowntree actually started out in Kids Television Wonder World when that came back around 1992(They should make a new one of that show and put it on 10 at 4:30pm and totally piss off the Bold and the Beautiful Viewers)but back to the topic here and started out on Getaway in 1996.
Me and My Mum loved this show and I was a regular viewer at one time each week till I started a Pizza Driving Job in 2004 which doesn’t even give me time to watch it.
They replaced it with the done to death Big Bang Theory!!!!One not happy dude.
That’s a surprise.She is very talented and has proved that throughout the years.Even working very comfortably on those IQ shows.Axe the NRL Footy Show would be a heaps better decision
I too found her very irritating in her presentation, however I don’t like to see anyone lose their job (well, mostly – wouldn’t mind seeing the end of Alan Jones f’rinstance)
Shame both for Cationa and the Show, but the show would have been pretty cheap to make with most resorts offering free accom for a spot on the show.
Does not bode well for the other shows in 9’s stable of shows.

Am I the only one who thought Getaway had been cancelled years ago? If it weren’t for this article, I would never have known it was still on the air – speaks volumes about Ch9’s publicity and marketing…
That’s a shame. Catriona was always comes across so nice and friendly. Hopefully she can be picked up by another channel.
CR is a class act, professional in every way. I wish her well.
When the choice is loyalty or bankruptcy there’s not much of a choice.
I’m sure she will end up better off down the track.
If Ten can get rid of its current 2 Breakfast show hosts and revamp the show in the new year with Adam Boland in charge and it probably will with its current pretty abysmal ratings, CR would be a good fit as female host, with who ever the new male host would be.
I doubt if she’d take it, as I believe she lives in rural Victoria.

I love Getaway. Shame to see it go.
personally she always irritated me. However, nothing surer she will move to 7 and appear on dancing with the stars or cwlebrity splash and be promised a prime time show after.
On that any news on Kerri Annes health and reported new show?

I like Ms Rowntree – and I always thought she was smarter than Getaway allowed her to be. Mind you, being a travel reporter for 17 years is a pretty attractive gig.
What a shame, she was one of the very few good presenters that ch9 had. Just the start of the slash and burn cost cutting
