NRL returns to FOX Sports this weekend with three Live pre-season fixtures including the annual Charity Shield clash.
The FOX Sports NRL team returns to action on Friday night when the Dragons and Rabbitohs ‘unofficially’ kick off the new season in the 30th annual Charity Shield fixture.
New FOX Sports recruit Matt Shirvington will make his debut in the hosting position alongside Panthers great Greg ‘Brandy’ Alexander for 30 minutes of pre-game coverage from 7pm AEDT on FOX Sports 3HD & 3, before Alexander, Warren Smith, Brett Kimmorley and Andy Raymond call the action from ANZ Stadium.
The Dragons are aiming to retain the silverware for a third successive season, having claimed a tight 18-12 victory in last year’s contest against a Rabbitohs outfit which eventually advanced to a semi-finals berth in the club’s most successful campaign since it returned to the NRL in 2002.
The pre-season action then continues with a live double-header on Saturday, beginning when the Warriors take on the Broncos in an historic NRL trial at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Both sides will field near full-strength line-ups for the New Zealand South Island showcase, which kicks off at 5.30pm AEDT on FOX Sports 3HD & 3.
The focus then shifts to this side of the Tasman, where the Roosters and Tigers will battle it out in their own traditional pre-season showdown, the Foundation Cup.
Matt Russell and Ben Ikin will call the action, with Mark Gasnier patrolling the sidelines at Allianz Stadium from 7.30pm AEDT on FOX SPORTS 3HD & 3, as the two Sydney rivals square off in their final outing before the start of the season proper.
Now in its seventh year, the Foundation Cup has been dominated by the Roosters, who have lost to the Tigers just once since the inaugural clash in 2007.
FOX Sports will deliver five live matches each full round in the 2013 NRL Telstra Premiership Season, all uninterrupted and high definition for Foxtel sports subscribers.

I have not seen any publicity for this game at all. My Sydney TV Guide also shows it Live on GEM from 6:45am Saturday, so presume it is on GEM nationwide. Go Storm!
