Bumped: The Amazing Race
Seven bumps the show back to 5:30pm Sundays on 7mate.

It wasn’t exactly a glorious start for The Amazing Race‘s 22nd season on 7mate last Sunday.
Just 85,000 tuned in, prompting Seven to bump the show from its 6:30pm start to 5:30pm as of next Sunday.
A movie Land of the Lost takes its place at 6:30pm followed by American Pie at 8:30pm.
Just a wild guess, but could it be that not enough people knew the Amazing Race was even on?

As a foxtel satellite subscriber, I don’t have the option to watch 7mate.
It’ll be online catch up for me.
Best local greeter ever. Mmmmm…..
Yeah, I concur with all the other posters, if it was not for TV Tonight I would have had no clue it was being aired here (thank you, David!).
That must surely be very worrying for Seven – they should not have to rely on third-party websites to keep their viewers updated!
Catch up TV is the only way with Seven programming

I think this story
http://tvtonight.com.au/2013/02/returning-the-amazing-race-7.html
was on this site for at least a week.
And that’s why God invented EPGs and newspaper liftout guides.
Shame. With Mark they would have made 85,001.
@ Mark : You don’t check this site much do you? I like the time change as am usually not home Sunday nights and like to record Bondi Rescue and Modern Family.
Like most other comments made, I only knew this program was scheduled thanks to this website. Not concerned about the earlier Sunday start, as long as the program is shown consistently. We can only hope!
Yup – I had no idea it was on (I put that to the absence of promos, not an apparent duty of TVTonight to tell me what to watch when).
@Mark – David is probably the only reason it had 85,000 viewers instead of 8,500.
Well I wouldn’t go that far. I reported on it’s return under Programming & Coming Soon and I ran it in Daily Pick. The rest is up to readers.
Pity you didn’t tell us David..more people would have watched..I didn’t know it was on
Mark, what are you talking about?
@ carolemorrisey Yes a better time so it does not clash with other shows at 6.30. We should be grateful it is fast tracked, it is on in HD and it is on at all!!!!
At least it’s still on, 5.30pm on a Sunday is a bit usual, bit it’s better than having it on late at night on the main channel. I think the show will stay at 5.30pm for the remainder of the season because it’s outside of Primetime ratings, so it won’t really matter how many viewers tune in.
If it was not for this site, I would not have known. The primary channel needs to advertise what is on their digital channels, just like the digital currently advertise for the primary.
I have never Ever known a channel to chop and change its programming as much as 7Mate does. I try to be a regular viewer, but even I struggle to keep up with what is on.
The guide rarely matches what is shown and it seems like things are just changed constantly at the last minute. No planning at all = no idea.
A very disgruntled viewer.
Actually that suits me more, there is too much on at 6.30 on Sunday nights. Now I can watch it live. Yeah I guess it’s possible a lot of people didn’t realise it was back, not everyone knows about this site and there was zero promotion for it. Usually 7 has a big advertising blitz for it a couple of weeks before it starts, but because it was on 7mate they didn’t bother.
What I think this proves is that your readership is over 85, 000 Dave. I saw no advertising for it on tv, although I don’t watch much 7mate usually.
I agree with your guess – no promotion what-so-ever – I am a big fan but I only knew about it due to this website. So they put it on when the news is on and expect more viewers? Strange decision but I guess given 7’s treatment, I should just be thankful they are showing it at all.
No wonder people go online to watch these shows illegally.
Thanks for letting us know. I saw a few ads for The Amazing Race on Channel 7 and 7two. I don’t mind the new time as it doesn’t clash with The Block. Maybe 7 could repeat it at some point for those who missed it?
The networks really need to do a better job cross-promoting their channels. While it is reasonably common to see a “main channel” promo on a digital channel, it is rare to see the reverse.
