Seven wins Monday, but worm turns on TEN.

Ratings: Seven managed a win over Nine on Monday, but it's bad news for Can of Worms.

2013-04-23_0956The final blind audition round of The Voice was Monday’s top show, but Seven’s MKR finals week managed to help it win the night.

Meanwhile it was bad news over at TEN where nothing rose above TEN News and Can of Worms was beaten by SBS.

Seven network was 33.5% then Nine 32.9%, ABC 16.7%, TEN 12.4% and SBS 4.5%.

My Kitchen Rules was 1.67m for Seven then Seven News (1.32m), Today Tonight (1.13m), Revenge (1.12), Home and Away (1.07m), Deal or No Deal (566,000) and Grey’s Anatomy (541,000 / 342,000).

It seems as if most people turned off at 9.30. That figure for Q&A is awful.
Yep…discussion between opposing health ministers…or should I say arguement…did not grab me I am afraid.

It originally said 1000 until I changed it back to 995. My guess would be that summer highlights don’t count as episodes. If so, then next Monday 29th will be the 1000th.

    @smit0847
Agreed. I think they should stick to comedy as they do it well. Their hard-hitting news stories come across as light weight and their investigative reports are rather boring. I also think the show should have some live music performances every so often to mix things up a little.

  3. wow. they are low numbers for Can of Worms and Hawaii 5-o. It just looks like a downward spiral for Ten at the moment. Nothing seems to rate for them, besides their 5pm News Hour.

@ Jason – i think those figures for SBS News are for their 6.30pm news, not their Late News

  4. @Daniel
According to Wikipedia it says that last night ep was the 995th in the fifth year
    @Bella
Nice joke but I didn’t realise that the 23rd of April was suppose to be a April Fools Joke lol. I agree with you CoW always provides a laugh and when did the show stopped airing Live for 2013

  5. Yes Q&A was down over 100k. I guess one hour of federal health policy is not what the doctor ordered.

The idea that voters are crying out for policy is just a journalistic fallacy. The majority of voters vote on who they like or dislike, and stuff they only half understand.

  6. I like Can of Worms, always a good laugh. Tim Campbell joked on twitter that he and Anthony are on different shows at the same time so instead of choosing, should watch SBS instead! ha!

  7. Of course Anthony Callea wasn’t the cause of last night’s numbers. My point was that CoW doesn’t have very interesting guests & recycles them quite often. How can it attract and build an audience with these limitations.
As for the competition, forget the Voice or MKR,
CoW can’t even compete with “Eat fast and live longer” over on SBS.
    .

  8. I read a report saying that last night was meant to be the 1000th ever episode of The Project.

Can you confirm or deny this David?

If this was the case, I would have thought Channel Ten would have promoted it to least encourage more viewers to tune in.

  9. Can Ten actually survive with these numbers? When three channels can only manage 12% share on the second biggest ratings night of the week, something is going horribly wrong.

  10. TEN’s problem (or one of them) is that MC will follow MKR, which morphed into MC. Viewers may be all cooked out for a while. Then 9 has a cake bake thing coming along somewhere too.

  11. I agree with others ch10’s credibility with news is non-existant. They’re already off to a bad start by not having any form of breakfast/ early bulletin. Absolutely no news until 5pm and then a lousy excuse for news at 10.30. The “late news” is neither here nor there. The day the libs released their NBN policy I flicked on that night to get some discussion on it. Oh funny it was buried deep in the bulletin and some underwhelming stories were being given minutes of coverage. Call me skeptical but funny how recent ownership moves are dictating massive bias towards the libs. I refuse to watch ch10 news now and as far as I can see unless ch10 fork out massive money to secure top tier sport they are dead and buried.

  12. ch10 oh dear!, just when you think it can’t possibly get any worse ….it does

MC will lead a fight back of sorts, but it is going to take an almighty effort for the network to survive in the long run….

  13. Darcey09 – weren’t you aware of the irony of having Anthony Callea on CoW last night?

His partner, Tim Campbell, was on another network at the very same time!

As for Ten – I really think their 2013 is going to be as disastrous as their 2012.

It’s a shame because they have some of the best quality shows eg. MCA, Good Wife, L&O SVU, Offspring…

  14. SBS Late News beat TEN Late News by 65K, Lateline beat TEN Late News by 2:1.
TEN has no “news-credibility” now, since they’ve dropped all news before 5pm, and ignored Boston and Texas breaking stories during the days.

  15. David I’ve noticed the winner in the battle between Sunrise and Today constantly changes and I’m wondering why. Is it based on which special (ie musical) guests are on which show on a certain day? Do certain days of the week normally attract more viewers to one show?
I’d be most interested in an article on this battle given how important it seems to the networks.

  16. The Voice singers are definitely not as good as last years – didn’t feel the need to buy any of the covers.

COW was entertaining … pity its not doing well.
