The Observer Effect: June 16

The Observer Effect is beginning to move away from political subjects with Ray Martin to be interviewed by Ellen Fanning.

-ray-martinThe Observer Effect is beginning to move away from political subjects which will hopefully make it of greater interest.

This Sunday night Ray Martin is the key guest, to be interviewed by former 60 Minutes reporter Ellen Fanning.

One of the founding members of Australia’s 60 Minutes team, a former ABC New York correspondent, host of The Ray Martin Show and A Current Affair, Martin has covered many of the major events of the past 50 years from the Vietnam War to 9/11. His list of interviews reads like a who’s who of world politics and entertainment.

Also joining Ellen this week will be independent Senate hopeful and former Prime Ministerial sibling Greg Rudd who was forced to sell his political lobbying business after Kevin Rudd was elected in 2007.

SBS ONE this Sunday night at 8.30pm.

  1. I am looking forward to this. Two former 60 minutes reporters. One interviewing the other. i dont think that Ellen will raise the incident on The Sunday program because Ellen does not strike me as that kind of person.

  2. The producers are up against it here. They need guests who are appealing enough for a visual medium; are smart, intelligent, well-read, alert and aware of the world around them; independent and objective in thought; and articulate. Bonus points for a sense of humour. Australia doesn’t breed people like that; and Australians don’t like them.

They need the next generation Clive James / Barry Humphries / Germaine Greer.

So, at no expense to SBS, how about: JM Coetzee, Julia Baird, Clive Hamilton, Hugh Streeton, Julian Burnside, Michael Kirby, Michael Leunig, David Marr, Keith Suter, Bernard Salt, Tim Harcourt, Suzy Jacobs, Miriam Lyons, Iolanthe Gabrie, Kim McKay, Genty Marshall, Wendy Harmer …
