  1. If David allows, may I conclude my previous comment please.
Ms Fanning began her interview by raising Mr Turnbull’s recent speeches “railing” or “pointing it out” as claimed by Mr Turnbull about the dumbing down of complex issues, where he claimed that the world of the10 second sound bite and the associated dumbing down claims, is the patronizing attempt to communicate with the so called common man, but it in fact should be seen as having contempt for us common men.
Most of this historical resume/interview then highlighted Mr Turnbull’s rise in fame along with his mellowing or even changes of attitudes and practices, that he wants us to firmly believe is possible and should be accepted as fact.
To ask a common man’s Dumb Question, if as on 60 minutes and The Observer, if Mr Abbott and Co. can change, why then do they claim Mr Rudd can not do the same?

  2. Watched this SBS programme for the first time, especially for the Mr Turnbull interview and did indeed learn a lot, such as….
There is a first and last time for some programmes.

That channel 9’s ‘ 60 minutes’ is not the only programme that can insult viewers with a pathetic and pandering interview as with the Mr Abbott on 60 minutes, and now another pathetic and pandering interview of Mr Turnbull on the Effectless Observer

That with just a hint of an election win, some politicians can wield as much power as any government minister.

That not only does Mr abbott and Co live in and want to return us to a past life that holds little credence/relevance in “Today’s Continually Changing World “, the SBS interviewer wanted to live in the already well covered history of Mr Turnbull’s life, and this was proven by the material she used.

That like Mr Abbott and Co, Mr…

  3. Re: advertising on the news

I get I’ve lost the argument. But this is probably goodbye. At least for Tuesday and Sunday nights with SBS News. It’s because of SBS advertising this show during the news as well as Insight. So I’ll watch them this week if I’m watching television for the last time.

The reason I chose SBS World News over the ABC News was firstly SBS extended the News as I watched both and I had to make a choice. I chose SBS because one week Beslan happened. On the weekend the ABC chose to play a celebrity story first. So I chose SBS because I thought I could rely on the first story to be a serious one. I just hope the ABC doesn’t try to sell programming on those days. As it is a test. A trustworthy test.

  4. I will admit I’m not impressed by the coalitions idea about the NBN. Not only do they plan to put stuff in the street for cars to wipe the whole streets internet and phone system out. I’ll just point out that can people wonder how that might be a problem on bushfire day with no or little visibility.

Then there’s keeping the copper. That doesn’t like windy or bad weather. On bushfire day it gets windy. Same with flood day usually. Plus wireless internet would be worse. That said I didn’t watch it tonight because of the news.

  5. No doubt Mr Turnbull will duck for typical B/S cover and/or play the party line leadership card, but regardless of which ever tactic he chooses and how ever long he takes to dance around this issue.

It will still be quicker than the quarter/half speed of the NBN broadband speeds that Mr Abbott and Co. thinks that most of of us in Regional/Rural/Remote Australia deserve and will receive from Mr Abbott and Co., and to add insult to insult, we will be paying more for the privilege of still being locked to Mr Turnbulls mates at Telatra , with the ‘Mates” reference being Mr Turnbulls own words not mine.
