UK whodunnit Broadchurch is to be remade for a US audience on FOX.
The ITV drama will have creator Chris Chibnall as an executive producer and writer of the first episode.
FOX entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said “Broadchurch is the kind of storytelling that grabs your attention and keeps you riveted with every minute – which is exactly what we look for in an event series.”
Filming on the US version will begin in January to be aired next year, while the UK version will premiere on BBC America in the US on 7 August.
The series is currently airing to good numbers on ABC1 in Australia.
ITV has already commissioned for a second series.

If it’s being made by FOX I suppose the local newspaper in it will be a Murdoch rag.
The American’s aren’t buying the original, the BBC are for their US cable channel. It must hurt to have to buy their hits shows from ITV.
US Networks don’t buy OS shows, they remake them in inferior versions. Wilfred being the exception.
US audiences usually only watch US shows. That may be changing though. PBS got 5m for DA.
They are buying the original, and it will air on BBC America. Now go and google how many eyeballs watch BBC America vs FOX and you will have your answer.
It doesn’t need adapting, it’s brilliant drama, just show it as it is. Stupid Americans.
I don’t understand this, is their a reason the US doesn’t just buy the original?
With this and The Bridge, Shine are on fire!
