Black Mirror: Oct 15

Very twisted episode of Black Mirror this week.

2013-10-14_1759Very twisted episode…. did my head in. I think I was in the foetal position by the end of it.

Charlie Brooker, BAFTA nominated author of Dead Set, brings the second series of his International Emmy Award winning Black Mirror, to SBS 2 with three new stand-alone episodes.

Each story is in turn disarming, suspenseful and darkly satirical, all exploring our modern reality.

Episode Two: White Bear
Victoria (Lenora Crichlow) wakes up and cannot remember anything about her life. Everyone she encounters refuses to communicate with her and enjoys filming her discomfort on their phones.

Victoria meets Jem (Tuppence Middleton), who explains that a signal is being transmitted that has turned most of the population into dumb voyeurs. This apathy has allowed the unaffected, the ‘hunters’, to do what they want and they are out to get people like her and Victoria.

Jem and Victoria set out to destroy the transmitter, but can they manage it and will it end their torment?

Tuesday, 15 October at 9.30pm on SBS 2 (3-part series).

  1. Extremely good TV. As with all the Black Mirror episodes you have to allow some leeway for the fictional improbabilities of the tale, but ultimately this episode in particular is very haunting and one that remain with you afterwards.
