  1. I don’t know why they’re bothering to extend the bulletins. It is just the same thing over and over. And I do hope it will all be over ASAP, I had to cancel a visit to Sydney and Bondi Beach last weekend because the Hume Highway was blocked.

  2. I don’t see what actual purpose this serves. We’ll just see the same footage they’ve been playing over and over, along with pointless speculation by “on the spot” reporters (I nearly said journalists).

Anyone *actually* after information will listen to local radio, call emergency services, or tune to a known 24 hour ad-free news service, such as ABC24. Anything else is just “me too” behaviour.

  3. In NSW: Due to the extended 9 News coverage of the bushfire emergency all programs will be pushed back again tonight by half an hour. Official Big Brother Australia will start at 7.30pm!

PSA Update | Prime7 NSW Viewers

The earlier post in relation to broadcast of Home and Away tonight on Prime7 will now only affect Coffs Harbour, Lismore, Tamworth, Taree, Orange, and Wagga Wagga regions where there will be a one hour local news bulletin covering the Bushfire crisis.

All other Australian regions will broadcast Home and Away at 7pm.

  5. For viewers in regional NSW and the ACT watching Nine News Sydney on the WIN network, WIN News will be screening tonight (as it has been since the end of last week) at 7:00PM. ACA is screeing on the GEM channel in WIN TV markets across NSW/ACT as usual at 7:00PM. If you can`t watch WIN News at 7.00PM, it is replayed after 12midnight. The Nine News Sydney late replay that normally follows the late WIN News replay is not screening for the meantime. It should return once the current NSW bushfire emergency is over.

  6. ph: If one of the data casting channels were to show NSW Fire coverage, no one would know it was on.

OTOH, ABC News 24 have done pretty much non stop coverage from what I’ve seen today and earlier this week, and that is the place people would look for news.

Of course, ABC Local Radio is still your best source of information.

  7. @ph – The government had just that in mind when they called them “data casting” channels – but who’s going to be brave enough to call a media mogul and tell them to drop one of their 24/7 commercials in the interests of public service?

  8. @aaron1004 – Why? What are they running at 7pm?
EPGs still say “H&A”. Then, TEN’s also still says “Simpsons” at 6pm.
TEN tried to do a news break at 2pm. Promos, 1 sec. of newsreader giving a “not happy Jan” look, more promos then next program.
ABC24 doing a great job. Michael Rowland still at it, since 6am or earlier.

  9. Why can we not use one of those infotainment channels for actual info and have the NSW Fires channel. Time to put the bandwidth to better use, surely nobody would object.
