ASTRA Awards switch to March

It was recently announced that the ASTRA Awards will shift in the Calendar, to March next year at Redfern’s Carriageworks venue.

Nominations for the 12th annual award ceremony open this week for STV channels to submit entries for consideration.

The changes also include new awards, including a category for Most Outstanding Sports Entertainment Program and a new Channel Achievement Award.

Another change will see the annual Industry Excellence Awards, traditionally held during ASTRA’s annual conference, bacoming a stand-alone cocktail event held in the lead up to the ASTRA Awards.

Disappointingly, the Subscriber’s Choice is still shortlisted by ASTRA and not Subscribers themselves, making the category an annual misnomer.

Entries are open now and close on Friday, 29 November, with finalists to be announced in mid-December.

Viewer voting takes place in February.
