2013-12-01_1629US actor Paul Walker, best known for the movie franchise The Fast and the Furious, has died in a car crash, aged 40.

The LA Times reports Walker was a passenger in a friend’s car attending a charity event intended to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines through his organisation, Reach Out Worldwide.

The crash took place about 3:30 p.m. local time not far from the office park where the event was held. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal, citing a sheriff’s deputy at the scene, said a red Porsche appeared to have lost control.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find a vehicle on fire, the sheriff’s department said in a statement. Once fire crews put the flames out, they found two occupants, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

Walker’s career began on the small screen, first with a commercial when he was 2, and then with parts in shows such as Highway to Heaven.

Early movie roles included Varsity Blues, Pleasantville, and Roadkill. His career really took off in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious which became a 7 film franchise. According to IMDb, the 7th instalment is still in production, as his final credit.

Other TV credits included Touched By An Angel, Charles in Charge, Diff’rent Strokes, The Young and the Restless, Throb, and Who’s the Boss?

  1. @Paul007 and @jezza …. don’t be too critical on him …..

He entertained millions of people and has left a 15 year old without a father …. this is the greatest loss….

    RIP Paul Walker

  2. The movie industry has always had eye candy with limited acting ability, so lets not be too harsh on him.

Still tragic death and the photos of the wreck of the car look horrendous. It seems ironic that he was known for his roles in F n F and his life ended in a high performance vehicle.

    RIP

  3. I awoke from a nanna nap this arvo to hear about this and couldn’t believe it. He was an amazing actor and has passed away way too young. He will be deeply missed.
