Renewed: Haven

US / Canadian series Haven has been renewed by Syfy for a fifth season at a whopping 26 episodes.

That’s more than broadcast drama seasons, let alone cable.

But the catch is they will be split across two years, through to 2015.

EW reports sometimes cable networks order an expanded season and split it across two years because costs rise each season per talent and producer deals, and can significantly rise when multi-year contracts expire.

If Haven contracts are up for renegotiation at the end of season 5 this could be a way of squeezing another two seasons out of the show without having to pay more for season 6.
