Wake Up adds Saturday edition

TEN's breakfast show is adding a Saturday edition, although it's unclear if it is just a one-off.

2014-01-30_1422TEN’s breakfast show Wake Up is adding a Saturday morning edition on February 15th, although it’s unclear if it is just a one-off during the Sochi Winter Games, to update overnight action.

As far as I know the space is usually given back to the surf club on the weekends, so there may be some adjustment to accommodate this broadcast.

Wake Up to what’s happening around Australia and around the world. Tarsh and Matho host the show Live from Manly Beach while Nuala Hafner presents your local news.

It airs from 6:30am Saturday February 15 on TEN.

UPDATE: A sunday edition will also air on February 16.

These will be one-off editions only.

  1. Gee, summer’s almost over and Wake Up are finally showing a weekend edition. Weekend Sunrise and Today have been touring the beaches with ice cream vans, water polo and stories about the Nippers. And what will Wake Up be using their Saturday summer edition to cover? The Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. They just don’t get it, do they?

  2. @IheartABC – you mean the left side of politics as I agree with Andrew Bolt. Wake Up got 42,000 on Tuesdays ep, where as Studio 10 over the summer has been doing impressive numbers. Shows need time to develop into bigger numbers. It’s live in prime time and many would care about it as it would do double of Vancouver’s ratings. Winter Olympics is premium content.

You do know that the ABC has something called News24? Full of the latest news and updates. It on Channel 20 on my set. And it goes all day!
I suspect you may have a vested interest.

I believe 7 and 9 have some newsy/showbiz shows too.

Personally, the ratings numbers for Wake Up and Studio 10 need to consistently be 70K+ consistently come June for management to remain patient with these programs.

And how many Australians really care about the winter olympics. Seriously? I don’t think 10 will see much of a ratings bounce if any from this event. It might even be a tragic backfire and cause more damage (if that were possible) to their beleaguered morning offerings.

  4. Today (Friday) the day Cyclone Dylan crossed the Queensland coast would have been a great oppurtunity for Wake Up to have broadcast directly into Qld, but no. The program is on a 1hr delay. Sad.
