2014-03-30_1249Next week SBS begins a new 3 part drama series from the UK, Life of Crime, set across three decades.

Set against the backdrop of London’s Brixton Riots in 1985, the death of Princess Diana in 1997 and the present day, this follows the life of an ambitious London police officer and the murder case that comes to dominate her career.

It’s 1985 and Denise Woods, played by Golden Globe nominee Hayley Atwell (The Duchess, Restless, Captain America), is a rookie, idealistic police officer finding her feet in a male-dominated profession.

Denise accompanies Detective Sergeant Ray Deans (Richard Coyle – Coupling, Prince of Persia) to a disturbing crime scene behind a nightclub where the strangled and battered body of a 15-year-old girl is discovered. Having met the teenager by chance the night before, Denise soon becomes obsessed with tracking down her killer. Working against the clear instruction of her senior officers, Denise relentlessly follows her intuition and own, very controversial line of investigation.

Episode One:
Rookie cop Denise Woods suffers a knock to the head that puts her in hospital. It’s here she meets Amy Reid (Eloise Smyth), a fifteen year old girl who’s recently come from a club in Brixton. Denise bonds with the young girl but their heart to heart is interrupted by a nurse wanting to take Denise for a scan. Returning, Denise is upset to find that Amy has left the hospital. In the early hours of the morning, as her senior officer drives her home, they come across a crime scene – a young girl’s body is found in an alley. It is Amy. Feeling responsible, Denise resolves to bring her killer to justice.

Thursday, 10 April at 9.35pm on SBS ONE.
