Simpsons death set for season premiere

The "yellow wedding" death of a Simpsons character will take place at the start of Season 26.

the-simpsons-death .jpgThe upcoming death of a Simpsons character, which was confirmed some time ago, is on its way later this year.

Executive producers Al Jean and Matt Selman told TVLine, “This is going to be a bigger deal than King Joffrey on Game of Thrones – the Yellow Wedding!”

“The character that dies is portrayed by an actor who won an Emmy for playing that character. People who reported on it then reported we were killing an ‘iconic’ character; I’d like to say it’s a great character, but I never used the word ‘iconic.’ It’s a terrific character and it [happens in] our premiere this coming year.”

But the character could also reappear in Halloween episodes or dream sequences.

“What we told the performer is, ‘This does not mean the end of your participation in The Simpsons,’” Selman added.

The Simpsons has previously expired characters such as Maude Flanders, while core cast members such as Phil Hartman and Marcia Wallace have dearly departed the ensemble.

As for who is under the Grim Reaper’s watch, let the speculating begin….
