Screen Shot 2014-05-13 at 3.40.37 pm.jpgI don’t usually re-post entire stories, but with the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicking off tomorrow morning, I thought it would be good to put Programming info front and centre again.

The opening match takes place tomorrow morning, between Brazil and Croatia at 5:30am AEST on Friday 13 June live on SBS ONE and there are key shows airing tonight to get you in the mood.

SBS holds holds exclusive broadcast rights across TV, online, mobile, tablet and radio in Australia.

There are 64 games live and in high definition with over 700 hours of coverage across a four week period.

Australia’s FIFA World Cup campaign begins against Chile at 7:30am AEST on Saturday 14 June live on SBS ONE and continues when they go up against Netherlands at 1:30am AEST on Thursday 19 June live on SBS ONE, and Spain at 1:30am AEST on Tuesday 24 June live on SBS ONE.

  1. I won’t be surprised if this does relatively well. Because for one there’s been controversy about the World Cup on at least ABC News. I don’t know about the others. Plus McDonalds has those burgers so millions of people that go there have been exposed to the idea. Plus those that watched the ads including on other channels also have too.

I’ve heard BP is also a sponsor. I don’t know what they are doing. But if they are doing something then there’s even more people. I also assume SBS has been telling people about it on the radio. Again millions. Of course not everyone will watch. But there’d be a lot that will and have found out about it.

Lastly there’s the ads on SBS and it being listed in the TV Guide. Unfortunately if they do get good ratings they’ll think it was OK what they did. As well as a successful idea. Instead of a combination of things probably nothing to do…

  2. SBS has listed their coverage start times not kick off times. And even then there are differences because they are starting coverage 1 hour before coverage not half and hour as the times given.

They have the correct kick-off times in a readable format on their website.

  3. Just hope SBS or whoever is responsible finishes their stuffing around with the SBS transmitters in the Illawarra/Wollongong area. Been ‘retuning’ all week, chasing ABC and SBS. Why is it taking so long?
