Bio remembers Lauren Bacall & Robin Williams

Bio will premiere episodes of Stars of the Silver Screen & Pioneers of Television to remember two Hollywood stars.

2014-08-13_1538Following the deaths of Lauren Bacall and Robin Williams, Bio channel will premiere two episodes of Stars of the Silver Screen: Lauren Bacall, tonight, and Pioneers of Television: Acting Funny on Monday.

Stars of the Silver Screen pays tribute to Lauren Bacall, the actress and model known for her distinctive husky voice and sultry looks. Following her appearance on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine in 1943, Lauren Bacall became a seductive screen icon at the age of 19 starring opposite Hollywood heavyweight Humphrey Bogart in To Have and Have Not, her first film role in 1944. This special includes commentary from contemporary film critics and current Hollywood glitterati who explore Lauren’s legacy and relive magical motion picture moments to help uncover her true personality behind her world-famous name.

This documentary series focuses on the legends that helped launched television and left lasting impression on sitcoms, talk shows, variety shows and game shows in television’s early years. Pioneers of Television: Acting Funny takes a peek behind the curtain to see the backstage techniques of America’s favourite comedic actors including Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters, Tina Fey, Jimmie Walker, Cloris Leachman, and Dick Van Dyke. This episode includes a never-before-seen interview with Robin Williams discussing his early comedy work as an ‘improv’ stand-up, his break-out series Mork & Mindy, plus behind-the-scenes on his first film smash hit Good Morning Vietnam.

Bio will also screen Biography: Robin Williams on Saturday August 16 at 8.30pm.
This one hour special takes a commemorative look at the career of Robin Williams – the wild, outrageous and frantic actor-comedian who became one of the world’s most loved entertainers.
