Brand new specials from Louis Theroux will finally air on Australian screens next month.

Louis Theroux at how Los Angeles deals with sex offenders in the communityIt’s been far too long, but brand new specials from intrepid reporter Louis Theroux will finally air on Australian screens next month.

Louis Theroux: LA Stories premieres October 13-15 on BBC Knowledge, including the experiences of patients with life-threatening conditions at Cedars-Sinai, the city’s most famous hospital; how California deals with sex offenders after they are released from prison and the city’s problem with neglected and feral dogs.

Edge of Life
9.30pm October 13 
Louis visits LA’s most famous hospital, the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in West Hollywood, where he meets patients battling for their lives against serious illnesses and explores the American way of death, which often involves never giving up and keeping faith right to the end.

Among the Sex Offenders
9.30pm October 14 
Louis spends time in the twilight world of the city’s paroled sex offenders, whose crimes have made them pariahs living on the fringes of society, in a state that has some of the toughest regulations in America on controlling sex offenders.

City of Dogs
9.30pm October 15 
Los Angeles is home to more than a quarter of a million dogs, from the pampered pooches of Beverley Hills to the pit bull terriers of the projects. Louis enters the bizarre world of LA’s dogs, meeting the characters whose lives revolve around the city’s huge canine population.

Louis Theroux week will also see viewer favourites, Twilight of the Porn Stars, America’s Most Hated family and Miami Mega Jail air on the channel.

  1. I agree with Tom Wood. Louis is of such professional excellence and his subjects so thoroughly thought provoking and inspiring, that he should not only be seen by cashed up paying subscribers. His whole modus operandi couldn’t be more contrasting with how his new material is currently being marketed. I guess it will end up eventually on ABC2, one can only hope.
