Former PMs talk to Nine, Seven.

Ray Martin will interview Julia Gillard on Nine and Janet Albrechtsen talks to John Howard on Seven.

gillardNine has agreed to air an interview between Ray Martin and former PM Julia Gillard, despite the opportunity not going to Tracy Grimhaw nor Laurie Oakes.

The Australian reports Martin was Gillard’s preferred choice for the television interview to promote her book, airing at 7pm on Tuesday September 23rd.

The interview was reportedly pitched to all three commercial networks with a $20,000 price tag.

Meanwhile Seven has a two-part interview with John Howard by Janet Albrechtsen, expected to debut in the same week on Sunday Night.

  1. Love my politics but I’ll be staying away from either of these. With H & A as competition, Gillard’s interview might be lost and if Howard’s on Sunday Night I’ll probably be in bed before they actually show it.

  2. Sounds like a cure for insomnia to me….

I still reckon Ray looks at old episodes of Frontline and still can’t figure out where they got the inspiration for Mike Moore…..

  3. I’m guessing that Albrechtsen’s interview had to be recorded in two parts to accommodate a prior engagement where she sounded out Andrew Bolt about being on the ABC Board.

  4. Let me get this right. Gillard charged Nine $20,000 to promote her book. I thought the advertiser paid the station!? Oh silly me. Here I’ve been paying WIN all of these years to promote my products when obviously they should have been paying me.

  5. “Gillard’s preferred choice” is the telling phrase here. Only the worst kind of pretend journalists offer interviewees – especially political interviewees – a choice of interviewer. And Janet Albrechtsen will most likely have to be restrained from leaping into Howard’s lap, fondling his tie and whispering sweet nothings in his ear. I guess it’s a safe bet that neither Gillard nor Howard will be fronting up for an interview on 7.30.

    Hagiography alert.
