Man pleads not guilty to Redfoo ‘glassing’ incident

Assault case over hotel incident last month begins in Waverly Local Court.

2014-08-28_1113A 21 year old Sydney man has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and reckless wounding, following a ‘glassing’ incident involving Redfoo last month.

The 39-year-old X Factor judge, real name Stefan Kendall Gordy, was with friends in the VIP section of the Golden Sheaf hotel in Double Bay on August 28th when he was allegedly hit with a glass just after 12.30am.

A lawyer for Newtown resident Arian Berisha told Waverley Local Court today that police had not provided him with a statement of facts.

“We’re not aware of the case against Mr Berisha, we’ve had to rely on Twitter, so we’re seeking a statement of more than 140 characters if possible,” Brian Wrench said.

“Unfortunately it’s been a bit of a trial by media.”

But a police prosecutor said seven witnesses would be called.

Last month Redfoo told Sunrise, “All of a sudden I was just talking to some girls and I just felt BAM! Something against my head.

“Security jumped on him and I started to chase him, to find out why would he do such a thing? I as held back by some security and stuff. But he made it outside but he got detained by police.

“I was quite upset because I saw blood on my hands. I said ‘oh my goodness. I’m bleeding. This is ridiculous’.'”

The case returns to court in November.
