Nik Wallenda claims World Records in Skyscraper Live walk

Updated: Aerialist Nik Wallenda makes 2 death-defying walk between Chicago skyscrapers, Live on Discovery.

nikw3Updated: Aerialist Nik Wallenda has claimed 2 World Records in his death-defying walk between two iconic Chicago skyscrapers today.

Discovery channel broadcast Skyscraper Live in Australia, as Wallenda walked between the iconic Marina City’s west tower and the Leo Burnett Building, more than 50 storeys above the Chicago River.

Wallenda made two walks, the first on an incline equivalent to 8 storeys, and the second blindfolded, between two skyscrapers.

The first walk he made with ease, but declined against taking a ‘Selfie’ which he had joked about.

The second walk was preceded by some concern over adequate audio communication with his safety team, but was completed without incident.

He achieved 2 Guinness World Records: Highest incline tightrope and Highest blindfolded tightrope walk.

Nik will walk further than two city blocks on an incline, rising to a 15 degree angle. Nik will then be blindfolded for the second part of the tightrope walk, which will span from the Marina City’s west tower to the east tower.

Dozens of cameras will be positioned across the city and on helicopters – capturing every step as Nik attempts this nail-biting, two-part walk at night in one of the windiest sections of Chicago. With unpredictable weather conditions, the tightrope walk will present countless obstacles.
