Guessing game on Celebrity premiere

Could TEN launch their big new show up against the return of My Kitchen Rules?

2014-11-13_2309With The Block (Jan 27) and My Kitchen Rules (Feb 2) locked into premiere dates.

Ratings begin on Sunday February 8, but both Nine and Seven hope to have secured audiences before the start of ratings.

So that just leaves the date for the third big Reality franchise, TEN’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! yet to declare its hand. As the new kid on the block, so to speak, it will have it work cut out but is hoping to benefit from the curiosity factor and some shiny new media attention.

In the week of Feb 1 TEN is not yet declaring any of its key timeslots, but there is a 90 minute TBA for Monday February 2nd -which would pit any premiere smack bang against MKR.

Set to air Live from South Africa, the first episode will include first reveals of the celeb cast.

Tuesday and Wednesday are both 1 hr while Thursday is also 90 minutes (an elimination perhaps?).

  1. If it is live I think the chances of them getting through the broadcast without serious technical issues at some point will be pretty small. I won’t be watching but if this sort of thing really worked wouldn’t we still have celebrity apprentice? 2 Seasons tops.

  2. Ten tried launching a new show either last year or the year before and failed miserably … seems like they have learnt nothing from that experience …. more of the same from Ten ……

  3. It hasn’t got a hope against MKR and the block I will record it and watch it after MKR I would love to see it kill the block but it’s not going to happen sadly nine could show the block 24/7 and people would still watch it

  4. I think it will start either Jan 27 or Feb 2, but it should start at 7pm…and have The Project at 30 mins, that way they will get the kickstart prior to TB and MKR and hopefully viewers stay tuned in. I’ll be PVR’ing TB and MKR and watch I’m A Celeb as it airs

  5. from social media posts today Julie Morris is packing today to go to Africa, news reports have said the hosts will go a week before to adjust to the climate then the show will start, so could the show start Monday/Tuesday week?

  6. Bettestreep2008 your comment re Gogglebox sums up the exact issue with the show’s promos. The UK version of Gogglebox is fantastic entertainment. The show is so much more than people watching TV and that is what Ten and Lifestyle have failed to communicate. The Shark Tank promos make the show look like a snore fest. For a network with a former advertising executive as it’s head honcho, Ten is rather woeful at advertising it’s content.

  7. I reckon Ten will have three flops this year.

Shark Tank is like the Dragon’s Den which Seven showed a few years back – and flopped.

Goggle Box? A show where we watch families watching television. No thanks

And IACGMOOH – is gonna be up against ratings juggernauts The Block and MKR. Every show Ten has put up against these two have flopped. Can’t see this doing any better.

And don’t forget MKR and TB will have 24/7 promos during the tennis and cricket. Some times you see more MKR than you do the tennis.

Sorry Ten – I’ll tune in to the opening of IACGMOOH – but if its anything like the UK versions – well that will be all.

  8. Ten really need to launch I’m A Celeb before MKR begins. It has a huge task of trying to attract viewers up against stiff competition on both 7 & 9 so it needs to try and get a head start. If Ten can manage to keep the contestants under wraps until the premiere then it should reap the benefits of the ‘curiosity factor’. It has been terribly entertaining watching some in the media getting their knickers in a knot because Ten won’t reveal names – fabulous that they’re clueless. Well done Ten.

Before I’m A Celeb begins Ten need to sort out the mess which is the Gogglebox promos so they can properly promote the show during I’m A Celeb. The current ads are diabolical.

  9. If it does begin on Feb 2nd then they already have me watching since I’m not a fan of MKR. But I do agree with mycreations if we were to go by the add alone.

As a regular viewer of the UK version I would say that the 90min ep on Thursday may be a live bush tucker trial since they don’t evict anyone until the two groups of celebs are all in the one camp.

  11. Love those “TBA”s. Look for lots of them in coming months for the daily & weekend repeats and repeats of all of the above. Don’t know why stations just don’t come clean. Viewers are not so stupid they can’t work out what “TBA” will be in the days and weeks ahead.
