TV legend ‘Ding Dong’ enters 10 jungle

Rumours confirmed as Denise Drysdale finally enters camp tonight in South Africa.

Legendary Denise Drysdale will join the cast of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here tonight on 10.

The entertainment icon matches the “National Living Treasure” clue teased by 10 and had long been rumoured to be participating this season. She is also the show’s oldest contestant ever at 75 years of age, eclipsing 72 year old Val Lehman in 2016.

“I watch the show a lot and, the last two years, I’ve seen people make really great friendships. You really get to know someone in that situation, and I think the friendships they’ve developed and kept are just wonderful. As you get older, it’s harder to make friends,” she said.

She has also been asked to join previous seasons but revealed she was hesitant to say yes due to not having the strongest stomach.

“That was one of the reasons I had said no in the past, because it’s not fair to go into the show and not take part in the trials. I’ll feel guilty if I can’t do them and not bring back food for the camp. I’m just going to pretend whatever I’m eating is chicken.”

In a career spanning five decades, Drysdale has appeared on Kommotion, The Ernie Sigley Show, Division Four, Homicide, Matlock Police, Ernie & Denise, Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Young Talent Time, Spicks and Specks, The Norman Gunston Show, Countdown, Celebrity Squares, In Melbourne Tonight, Please Like Me her own daily talk show, Denise, Beauty and The Beast, The Circle, and most recently Studio 10.

In both 1975 and 1976 she won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Female. She also won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Female Personality in both years.

  1. Denise Drysdale will be a delight though she has unfair advantage having worked along side Tristan MacManus on Studio 10. How Denise isn’t already in TV Week Logie Hall of Fame is a mystery. So did Skye receive inside information or mentioning Denise’s name just a coincidence?
