Daniel MacPherson lands role in MTV drama

Daniel MacPherson has landed his first role in a US production, MTV’s Shannara, to be filmed in New Zealand.

Adapted from Terry Brooks’ fantasy books the series is set in a world which thousands of years earlier suffered the destruction as we know it and follows the Shannara family, whose members can tap into ancient magic to help reshape the world’s future.

MacPherson will play Arion, the heir to the Elvin throne. Overly serious, Arion is the polar opposite of wild brother Ander (Aaron Jakubenko). He dedicates himself to proving to his father King Eventine (John Rhys-Davies) he is worthy of the crown, but his plans are complicated when his niece Amberle goes missing.

Also cast are Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Brooke Williams, Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler and Marcus Vanco.

The books are estimated to be the highest-selling unadapted fantasy series in the world, and Brooks is considered the second-highest-selling fantasy author, trailing only J.K. Rowling.
