Nine has confirmed a third season for its period drama series, Love Child.
The renewal comes ahead of a second season premiere, returning “soon” on Nine.
In a briefly-worded statement, Nine confirms Jessica Marais, Jonathan LaPaglia, Mandy McElhinney, Matt Le Nevez, Ella Scott Lynch, Sophie Hensser, Gracie Gilbert, Harriet Dyer, Miranda Tapsell and Lincoln Younes will all return for season three.
Filming on the Playmaker Media drama will commence mid-year.
Love Child joins with House Husbands, also by Playmaker, on Nine’s local Drama slate alongside Gallipoli, currently airing.

For a period piece it doesn’t really mimic the dialogue of the time. If you closed your eyes and listened to it you’d swear it was 2015, the only exception to that would the absence of word ‘selfie’. Other than that it seems very restricted with very tight location shots and the same car going past the camera half a dozen times. A good example of a show that pulled the period piece well is Dr Blake.
So that means that renewing dramas has nothing to do with ratings? Can’t be ratings based if the second season has not even aired 1 episode yet!!!! What a lame excuse the “ratings” are whenever “convenient”!
Ratings have been strong, their best drama season in 2014.
Not a fan at all of this so wont be watching series two and not bothered if series three is going ahead or not.
Brilliant news. I loved season one and can’t wait for season two, so it’s great to hear that there will be third season, and that all cast will be returning.
Great show, something different to the usual soaps and procedurals.
Great news. Looking forward to the upcoming season.
