Former Southern Star and Shine executive Rory Callaghan has been appointed as CEO of Screentime, with Bob Campbell appointed Executive Chairman of Screentime Group.

Most recently Executive Director of Shine Australia, Callaghan was previously Chief Executive Officer of Southern Star.

“I am excited to be joining a company with such a great heritage. Screentime presents a big opportunity to build on its track record in drama and non-fiction, and to add some new elements to the mix,” he said.

Bob Campbell said: “We are delighted to have someone of Rory’s experience and calibre joining Screentime as CEO. Along with the rest of the team, I look forward to working closely with him.”

Marco Bassetti, Banijay Group CEO, said, “As a Group we intend to significantly increase our scripted and non-scripted output and Screentime will play a big role in our plans. We are very pleased to have an executive as well-known, well-qualified and prolific as Rory to take Screentime and Banijay Group to the next level.”

Campbell, who has been managing director since June, will commence as Executive Chairman immediately, with Callaghan to begin later this year.

  1. Screentime needs a freshen up. Sick of their testosterone fuelled dramas – Underbelly, Bikie Wars and now Wolf Creek – even Janet King had a coldness to it that was hard to penetrate. When they tried to do something skewed to women (Anzac Girls) – it was a disaster. Hopefully he’ll bring with him some depth.

    1. I’m with you Lizzie May. Trying to turn Wolf Creek into a TV series is a new creative low. If you don’t have an ideas engine room you don’t have a content business.
