Chrissie Swan on a very Brady friendship

Chrissie Swan has written about her new-found friendship with Marcia, Marcia, Marcia...

In her regular Herald Sun column, Chrissie Swan has written about her new-found friendship with Maureen McCormick aka, Marcia Brady, on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

Swan reveals she is regularly asked about McCormick, so she has put pen to paper, so to speak. This comes despite some social media commentary that Swan was critical of McCormick behind her back, but in the extreme situation of reality television it never struck me as particularly spiteful. I think even McCormick would agree she is frequently unhinged. But we love her all the same.

Chrissie Swan, who swears she watched every episode of The Brady Bunch, shares some of the discussions she shared with Marcia, Marcia, Marcia…

One of my dream-come-true moments occurred around the campfire when I asked all the questions I never had answers for and Marcia answered them as if she knew. Questions like: did your biological father die or did Carol and he get divorced (he died). And Mike’s wife? (also dead).

Was it traumatic for you all to blend together like nothing bad had happened so soon after your mother/father died? (Yes, but they worked through it.) And what of Tiger? Was it a joint decision to get such a big dog? (The girls brought him to the marriage.)

Another pinch-me-I’m-dreaming moment was a detailed verbal walk-through of the floorplan of the iconic Brady house on Clinton Way. Maureen talked me through the double doors, the tiled entry, the alfresco meals area and the deluxe kitchen. I was in heaven. As in, I almost forgot to breathe.

I didn’t fangirl the whole time though. I stopped worshipping Maureen long enough to fall deeply in love with her as a person, not a character. Maureen was seriously put off by the cameras and so we spoke in veiled terms and hushed tones about addiction, rehabilitation, eating disorders, broken engagements, children, anxiety and family betrayal.

  1. Dear Chrissie,
When are you going to realise that this article is nothing more then an attempt to justify your actions on the show?

I’m surprised you haven’t accused the producers of manipulating the footage.

You’re desperate for everyone to love you and for them to believe you’re the sweet, innocent, angelic person you were on Big Brother. Isn’t the moment right you admit that time changes people and that you grow up like everyone else does and like every other human on this planet, you have two sides to you and you’re not as perfect as you want the public to believe you are.

Until you stop hiding behind this persona, there’s many people who see that you’re fake….and if you are reading this, be assured to know, I did everything I possibly could to make sure you didn’t win.

  2. Surely Chrissie has read all the hundreds of bad comments on social media about her backstabbing of Maureen. She seems to be in another world and pretending she didn’t so anything wrong. I find her article offensive

  3. While I watched very little Brady Bunch in my life, I enjoyed watching them interact with each other on the show. Hopfuly 10 bring it back for a second season because watching the show and the contestants intract felt genuine (at least compared to edited bull(censored) that is Block and MKR)

    1. Yes, same here.
The interactions between the contestants on Celeb seemed refreshingly genuine and unstaged, unlike all those other so called reality shows
Great that Chrissy appears to have a lot of affection for Maureen but it sure didn’t seem that way to me sometimes when her and Joel were bitching about her behind her back.
The backstabbing appeared quite nasty and disrespectful at times.
