Sydney actors Andrew Steel and Alexander Bruszt, and the Gold Coast’s Tom Dalzell, are all in the running for a role on US soap Days of our Lives.
They have been culled from over 300 entries in the hunt for a new actor via an online talent contest.
Bruszt and Steel will be flown to LA at the end of this week, to join LA-based Dalzell for a screen test.
Foxtel’s Arena channel, Corday Productions Inc. and Sony Pictures Television are offering the chance for one to be cast in the role of Fynn, a handsome, rugged Australian doctor who arrives in Salem to do his residency, specifically to gain skills as a surgeon, working under the supervision of Doctor Jonas (Shawn Christian).
Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng said, “The number of submissions and the calibre of talent we were introduced to through this partnership with Arena far exceeded our expectations, and we’re thrilled about testing the top three finalists next week.”
Alexander Bruszt and Andrew Steel will be flown to LA at the end of this week, where they will meet fellow finalist Tom Dalzell to do a screen test for the role on Days of our Lives.
The winner will be announced after the screen test in LA and will return to Australia briefly before heading back to the States to film episodes airing late 2015, in time with the show’s 50th anniversary.
The role offered to our new found Aussie hunk will hit our screens for the first time, in a 13 week role which will culminate during the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations in November. Days of our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Brady’s, the Horton’s, and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama. In true Days of our Lives style, our Australian actor’s character will find things are shaken up the first day he arrives.
Days of our Lives airs Express from the US at 12.50pm weekdays on Arena. Arena provides weekly DOOL omnibus catch up on Sunday mornings from 7-11.30am EST.
