Oops. Nine News gives AFL win to Geelong.

Nine News gets it wrong, misreporting an AFL match that was actually won by the Demons.

Nine News misreported AFL results yesterday, announcing a win for Geelong.

Geelong actually lost to the Demons for the first time since 2005, losing by 24 points in what was supposed to be a celebration for Corey Enright’s 300th.

It even claimed his hometown of Kimbla was celebrating. Based on what, exactly?

Anyone would think Nine had pre-written the results…?

    1. I think 99.9% of Sydney would be asking “What are the Cats? Who is Corey Enright?”. In their addiction to superfluous on-screen graffiti stations outsmart themselves too often. Assuming there were two graffiti graphics made up in advance, and someone used the wrong one. “Kimba also partying” – hardly. Just give us the news, without the graffiti and without the stupid “live” crosses to someone standing in the dark in front of a building where apparently something happened, inside, 18 hours ago.

  1. 9 sydney have been off the rail with supers for years… constantly getting names wrong locations wrong and so on… its disgraceful to think that today with all the different ways of pre packaging a story that you could get it wrong… sure this was a live read with a super… and even more so to get it wrong… do nine still have more than one person in the control room for news reports?? if so… what the heck were they all doing not pre reading the super before they go to air….

    1. The simple fact is that no one cares anymore. There is no love for television production anymore, not like there used to. When the accountants and consultants run industries that they aren’t passionate about, small things happen. The eventually big things happen.

I predict one night into the future one of these channels will probably go off the air for an extended period of time but no one will notice because there will be no one left to care

      Meanwhile, online….
