The 2015 International Champions Cup (ICC) Australia gets underway next week when Nine broadcasts Live matches Real Madrid CF, Manchester City FC and AS Roma.
Games will air on GEM and GO! with viewers able to simulcast every match on 9Jumpin.
Nine Network sports presenter Clint Stanaway will host all the action, with expert commentary from football presenter Brenton Speed, former English Premier League and A-League forward Michael Bridges, and Socceroo and Melbourne Victory player Archie Thompson. Nine sports presenter Sam Squiers will be reporting from the sidelines.
Nine network will also feature matches between Liverpool FC and Australian A-League teams Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United. GEM / GO! will screen an additional 20 overseas games, featuring Barcelona FC, Manchester United, Chelsea FC, AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Alex Rolls, Nine’s Network Executive Producer, Wide World of Sports, said: “Altogether, there will be 25 games of football in less than four weeks on Nine’s Wide World of Sports. The headliners will be Ronaldo’s Real Madrid, Manchester City and AS Roma playing at the MCG, plus Liverpool taking on our own A-League teams, all in one incredible week. Life doesn’t get much better if you love football.”

This is Pointless why cant you just Host you International Champions Cup Matches all on Channel 9 Nation Wide! Same goes for Channel & when they Hosted Tottenham & Chelsea FC games on 7Mate why have it on channels that are not Available in Melbourne. I have Paid Foxtel & the Channel Not Available same with 7Mate. how can I record matches if I can’t see them. this is why I appose Live TV when paid Customers miss out!. I rather have it on SBS and Foxtel Extend There Rights over A-League Sick of Missing out.
GEM and GO! are available in Melbourne (including on Foxtel). It used to be that some multichannels were not available on Foxtel satellite due to a stand-off about whether Nine or Foxtel should foot the bill, but I think that was sorted some years ago for cities like Sydney and Melb.
Pointless rant is pointless. If you cant pick a “free” to air channel, then you are doing something wrong.
Also, dont confuse yourself with others from Melbourne. I am from Melbourne and I can clearly see GO and GEM.
There may be issues for satellite viewers in other cities such as Adelaide and Perth. I understood satellite for Melb, Sydney and Brisbane was resolved some time ago.
IQ2 doesn’t have GEM etc. due to Satellite re transmission agreement. IQ3 has direct connection to the aerial meaning all channels.
IQ2 cable has GEM. It’s been a while since I had IQ satellite, but I was pretty sure this was sorted for Sydney & Melbourne (and I think Brissy). Which city are you, Jordan?
Melbourne. Because I have IQ2 satellite I have to upgrade to IQ3 to get all channels via internal tuner they have not gotten it resolved for retransmission. Can still get them through aerial just wish to have them to record shows through foxtel.
Jumpin can barely handle playing a regular tv show properly, not sure how it will handle streaming.
Good use of the multi channels by Nine…I’ll be tuning in.
David, I was wondering if Perth viewers get to see live coverage of every soccer match on GEM & Go?
Yes confirmed.
I am surprised Nine will show the overseas matches of the International Champions Cup, in addition to the three MCG matches. The network has never shown this much soccer since it telecast the 2002 FIFA World Cup with SBS.
I know they are only pre season warm-up matches but that is a lot of football! Credit where it’s due…
