Future unclear for Community

"There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show," says Joel McHale, before a bit of a U-turn.

Community fans are awaiting clarification on the series following Joel McHale advising that the show was unlikely.

“All of our contracts were up after six years. All the actors on the show, almost without exception — their stock has risen significantly and it’s out of the pay rate that is affordable to make the show,” McHale said. “So you’re not going to be able to get Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs at a normal television salary anymore. There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show.”

But he then back-tracked somewhat.

Sony Pictures Television has declined to officially comment on McHale’s remarks, but there are reports the studio is open to continuing the show either as a new 13 episode season for Yahoo Screen or a movie.

Community has streamed in Australia via Stan since its broadcast series ended.
