Naomi Watts is fronting a new advertising campaign for Presto telling Australians to “demand more” of their streaming services.

Parodying Hollywood actors, Watts is seen stepping off a WATS$ UP jet plane and ordering an entourage of assistants to meet her every need.

“I tell you when I do become demanding. When an On Demand service from America tries to serve us Aussies all sizzle and no sausage,” she declares.

The ad nods to HBO and Showtime dramas, and premium sound on Presto.

“Don’t settle for scraps Australia. Demand more,” says Watts.

Shaun James, added “The team loved working with Naomi and they had a lot of fun together. Naomi is the perfect fit for this role as she is not only a highly respected, instantly recognisable personality in Australia, but she is also considered to be someone who is anything but demanding. We hope it will be entertaining for Australians to see her in this tongue and cheek role.

“Our new Demand More campaign, in which Naomi features, shares the great news that unlike other SVOD services, Presto gives Australian viewers access to HBO content and exclusive TV shows like Aquarius, Mr Robot, The Walking Dead, some of Australia’s best dramas like Wentworth and Packed to the Rafters, as well as must-see movies. Australians really can be more demanding with their Presto on demand service.”

“Celebrities are often accused of having high demands. It was fun to play this arch character in a tongue and cheek way,” said Watts.

“Presto is all about demanding more from your experience and given the sheer amount of entertainment on offer these days, I love that we can now demand what we want to watch and when. I am certainly demanding about the TV shows I watch, so Presto more than works for me.”

The campaign will coincide with the launch of new programming and service innovations from Thursday, September 3rd.

  1. Fun ad – Naomi’s lovely – but it reeks of desperation, the message is embarrassing as Presto aren’t even playing in the same league as Netflix.

I did free trials of Netflix & Stan, was going to try Presto but it wasn’t on Apple TV & I don’t want to buy any other gadgets. David noted that it’s now available over AirPlay but I don’t find AirPlay very reliable. I dropped Stan, love Netflix – I wouldn’t try Presto now even if it was on Apple as I’m happy with NF & will only pay for one SVOD.

  2. They will probably have HD in 2 days. There doesn’t seem much point in launching “service innovations” in SD. Though many customers with <=100GB will want SD.

The amount of quality Australian content you make for people paying $15/month for unlimited stuff is next to zero. Amazon makes it original content at a lose as part of it loyalty scheme to make money of selling stuff in packages. Netflix's original content is sold globally and not believed to make a profit, it gets people in but they money from distributing all the cheap nonexclusive content.

  3. Yes,we should demand more from Presto. How about better apps, better picture quality, and a more affordable price,in line with its competitors like Stan and Netflix? That would be a good start,Presto.

  4. The updated apps were released on Saturday for Android and Apple I believe now most modern content is HD and 5.1 all that is needed now is the console apps and browsers to follow suit

  5. What absolute rubbish. What a joke of a campaign asking Aussies to demand a company (Netflix) that is delivering quality to its customers from a company (Presto) that doesn’t even offer its best shows that they’re boasting about in HD.

You want us to demand more, here goes: Presto don’t brag about being a better service when you don’t have the justification or facts to do so. If anyone deserves that right in Australia it is Stan who is the only Australian streaming company that is actually doing right by its customers.
