Channel 5 in the UK has greenlit a local version of Lip Sync Battle, the entertainment format that began on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
“There is a great buzz around Lip Sync Battle – it’s one of the most talked-about and fought-over formats in the world of TV right now,” said Channel 5 director of programs Ben Frow. “We’re excited that our developing relationship with Spike in the U.S. has made a U.K. version of the show possible and look forward to bringing entertainment back to the heart of Channel 5 primetime.”
A UK host is yet to be announced.
The show has performed surprisingly well for Nine in Australia, with local production companies offering to produce an Australian adaptation.
Nine is understood not to be be rushing into anything locally as yet, aware that part of the appeal of the miming show is its ability to draw big name stars in the US.

It’s amazing what does well on TV these days.People’s tastes sure have changed, and not for the better
It’s like watching a bunch of drunk extroverts at a party you’d rather not be at. Pass.
I am really at odds to understand who this show appeals too. Everyone in our house hates it.
That’s the problem for 9…getting big stars. Viewers won’t cop “Celebrity” Apprentice style nobodies.
