HBO has backflipped on a decision to give The Brink a second season.

The geopolitical comedy, featuring Jack Black and Tim Robbins, was renewed in July, but HBO has now reversed that decision.

“After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give The Brink the attention it deserves for a second season,” HBO said in a statement. “We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.”

The Brink focussed on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: Walter Larson, U.S. Secretary of State (Robbins); Alex Talbot, a lowly Foreign Service officer (Black); and Zeke Tilson, an ace Navy fighter pilot (Pablo Schreiber).

It aired in Australia on Showcase.

  1. just goes to show its not renewed until its on air. To be perfectly honest I didn’t even know Jack Black was doing a political comedy show. Maybe it will be picked up by Netflix maybe they can promote it with House of Cards.
