‘The Jinx’ Robert Durst to be extradited to California

72 year old millionaire Robert Durst, who was the subject of HBO documentary The Jinx, has agreed to be extradited from Louisiana to Los Angeles to face charges.

Durst was arrested in New Orleans on the eve of the finale of the documentary spanning the disappearance of his wife Kathie Dirst, friend Susan Berman in 2001 and the death and dismemberment of a neighbour in Texas in 2001.

He now faces a first-degree murder trial in Los Angeles over the 2000 death of Susan Berman, his friend and one-time spokeswoman, amid reports he allegedly killed her to stop her from cooperating with an investigation into the disappearance of his wife.

Court filings have shown that Durst has struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors on a weapons charge in New Orleans.

Richard DeGuerin, one of Durst’s attorneys, said, “Bob Durst didn’t kill Susan Berman and doesn’t know who did. He is eager to go to trial and prove his innocence.”

HBO is understood to be updating The Jinx with more on the case.
