New US drama Heartbeat, which stars Melissa George and Don Hany will premiere in Australia on Universal Channel in early April.
George stars as a world-renowned heart-transplant surgeon who struggles to balance her personal and professional life (not to be confused with Offspring -or Grey’s Anatomy for that matter).
But there were reports Hany would be written out from the series -it’s not clear how many episodes he appears in.
The NBC series, originally called Heartbreaker, premieres in the US this week and has had mixed reviews.
It is executive produced by Jill Gordon, Amy Brenneman, Brad Silberling, Mark B. Perry and Jennifer Cecil. The cast also includes Dave Annable, Shelley Conn, Joshua Leonard, Maya Erskine, D.L. Hughley, Jamie Kennedy and JLouis Mills.
Loosely inspired by the real life and achievements of Dr. Kathy Magliato, this unique medical drama follows Dr. Alex Panttiere (Melissa George), an outspoken world-renowned heart transplant surgeon and one of the few women in her field. There is nothing conventional about Dr. Panttiere, who is as cutting edge and unorthodox in the Operating Room as she is with the two men in her life. Her approach to medicine is without boundaries, as is her approach to everything else in her world.
Between Dr. Panttiere’s hectic hospital life where she is caught between two brilliant but stubborn surgeons (Dave Annable and Don Hany) and her household of two kids and a gay rock star ex-husband, Alex is constantly striving to overcome numerous daily obstacles and be the best mother and doctor possible.
Thursday, April 7 at 8.30pm on Universal Channel.

Bit harsh on Melissa, granted the photos are over photo-shopped, i quite like her as an actress, she was great in Alias and also Hunted
I found myself unable to watch more than 1½ eps of hunted. Partly George’s acting (or lack of it) and partly the ridiculous script. I didn’t like her in The Slap either but gave her the benefit of the doubt as she was playing a fairly unlikable character.
I think the wooden expression may be botox but that picture is most definitely photoshop! I shall give it a look if it is on universal but not one i shall be putting in my must see list!
Yes, Melissa is unrecognisable in that photo. She’s actually pretier than that, so don’t know why they had to photo shop it.
One I won’t be watching…why ? The constant advertising has become unbearable,it’s supposed to entice you to watch the show not be played so many times it turns you off completely….Oh and the fact that the very wooden, one expression Melissa George is in it.
