More reports of looming ownership changes, this time regarding Foxtel.
The Australian reports News Corp is considering combining its 100% ownership of FOX Sports Australia with its 50% stake in Foxtel before an $8 billion stockmarket float.
It comes at a time when Telstra is rumoured to be considering selling as much as 60% of its stake in Foxtel.
Such a deal could enable Foxtel to offer triple-play bundles at lower price points to entice new customers and retain existing ones under a brand makeover to give the company a more compelling and easily understood consumer proposition.
Foxtel would also be in a stronger competition to better compete with ESPN, beIN Sports, free-to-air channels and Âtelcos for sports rights.

This surely means that Foxtel will list on the ASX seeing as how Fox Sports is its most lucrative part of the business.
got a mate at foxtel who says fox sports have done a deal that “shits over what optus have”.
he won’t go into any more detail at the moment.
Unless it’s getting back the three best soccer comps then it won’t
Really unless it’s taken the rights to the EPL back I doubt that very much . The fact Optus has the EPL rights for the next three seasons and all the big European soccer comps are on BEIN for the next three years as well . the Saudis have more money than Rupert As I am only interested in football mainly European football I don’t see a need for Foxtel anymore .
maybe not it was a closed bid so no one knew how much Optus bid to out bid them
Which is why I wrote “might”. I meant that if they were in a better position financially, they “might” have decided to bid a higher amount. Academic now.
but if its a closed bid how would you know how much to bid you could end up paying to much
Thats right. Foxtel would have worked out how much they wanted to spend and make an appropriate return and bid based on that. They don’t seem like the kind of company that would pay overs for something. However, i wouldn’t be surprised if they were surprised that Optus bid so much. It may make them think twice if a similar scenario presents itself in the future.
Foxtel were caught off guard they seriously arrogantly thought no one else was interested or would pay more . They stuffed up big time .
Too late the EPL,La Liga, Bundesliga horses have bolted
If they’d done this last year they might have been able to retain the EPL.
