The Siege of Tobruk in World War II, where our diggers were branded “the rats” – not an insult, but a compliment because they were admired for their incredible ability to survive.
The Battle of Long Tan, where 108 Australian troops were caught under fire by an overwhelming enemy force of 2,500 during the Vietnam War.
