X Factor streamlines format for 2016

More changes coming to Seven format this year.

More confirmation today that The X Factor is a briefer season on Seven this year.

Guy Sebastian tells News Corp, “The live shows will be culled right down; there will be heaps less. So the process will be pretty brutal.

“We’ll have to get rid of two or three at a time.”

The audition, boot camp and home visit parts of the show will also be condensed, while the three judges mean one less category.

“It’ll be a lot faster pace,” Sebastian says.

Several weeks ago singer Iggy Azalea tweeted she was attending for a week at the end of June then 4 weeks in November. Adam Lambert also judges whilst Jason Dundas makes his debut as host.

  1. I thought people were complaining that all these reality shows were dragging on and on. So why all the criticisms? Also, I have a feeling that Seven is now realising that singing shows are not rating as well as they used to (eg Voice) hence a shortened version?

  2. This is insane. I don’t know why they’re even bothering with bringing it back if this is how they’re treating it.

How can you get invested in the contestants if two or three are being kicked out each time it’s on. There are people in previous years who have had a low vote only to completely turn it around the next week and become the best, yet if they were in this series they wouldn’t have had the chance.

  3. Start X Factor at the end of August “after the Olympics”, end at the end of November on the last week of ratings – can still run for 12 or 13 weeks.

Like the idea of shortening the first wave of the show – auditions but not a fan of multiple contestants going home each week thereafter if that’s their plan…

  4. i love the x factor but i think that making it a shorted one or getting rid of 2 or 3 at a time will ruin in. that’s too much and ruins the fun of the show. the reason x factor is more popular than the voice is so we can see the evolution of the singer from week to week over the 12 weeks. to see them grow over the weeks is part of why they become successful. if they’re making it shorter it’ll be like the voice where a million go home each week, i can’t keep up with it and i don’t know who’s in or out or saved or singing again…so confusing. if it’s shorter because iggy or adam need to get back to USA then get aussie singers (jessica mauboy, ricki lee, samantha jade, jimmy barnes etc) who live in australia and time isn’t a factor. come on 7. don’t kill off my favourite show.
