We now have a date for Westworld, after HBO finally confirmed plans for the TV adaptation of Michael Crichton’s script.

Updated: It will air in Australia at 12pm Monday October 3rd, same time as the US.

The series stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr. Miranda Otto is no longer appearing.

“Building on the incredibly evocative concept of the original film, we wanted to pose the question: If you could be completely immersed in a fantasy, one in which you could do whatever you wanted, would you discover things about yourself that you didn’t want to know?” executive producer Jonathan Nolan said in a statement.

“We also wanted to explore what it means to be human from the outside in – through the eyes of the ‘hosts’: the lifelike AI characters that are the main attractions of the park,” executive producer Lisa Joy added. “It’s a meditation on consciousness – the blessing and the burden of it – beautifully portrayed by our remarkable cast.”

The series underwent production delays for 2 months due to scripting.

  1. David, no 3:30pm timeslot like they did for Vinyl or 11am for Got(S5 and 6)? Just the 8:30pm timeslot? Sounds like it costs Foxtel alot to screen GoT at same time as US, so much so, can’t afford to air other HBO shows in similar timeslots as well.

  2. This should be good, has a good cast. Hopefully not a flop like vinyl. Ps. Well done to Foxtel for telling us when it will screen 2 months ahead of time, something FTA network’s should take a lesson in.
