Axed: Duck Dynasty

US reality series Duck Dynasty, which centres around Louisana family the Robertsons, is coming to an end after 5 years and 11 seasons.

But after it ends in the US next April, A&E is planning a series of specials in the future.

Duck Dynasty, which premiered in 2012, hit its peak in August 2013, becoming the most-watched non-fiction series telecast in US cable history with 11.8 million Live+same day viewers.

But in December of that year, it was embroiled in a controversy over anti-gay remarks made by star and Robertson family patriarch Phil, leading to a temporary suspension and network apology.

It airs in Australia on A&E.
