Michelle Guthrie: “I love Gogglebox”

ABC Managing Director Michelle Guthrie made a surprise comment at the Screen Forever conference yesterday when asked about some of her favourite TV shows.

“I love Gogglebox, and I particularly love Gogglebox when the audience has to watch ABC programmes!

“It’s an unexpected delight, not necessarily with your traditional ABC audience, but you realise our programming really, really connects with people. The hard thing is ‘How do we make our programming much more accessible?’ The quality and the storytelling behind what we do is tremendously valuable.”

Guthrie also noted her favourite new ABC show is Rosehaven while You Can’t Ask That was compelling without being a high-cost production.
