TV Tonight hears rumours that ABC dramas Rake and Jack Irish are likely to have more episodes.

Production is tipped for late 2017 meaning both would be prospects for 2018 on ABC.

Rake was always a three-season drama, but had a well-received fourth season with Cleaver Greene ending as a senator holding the balance of power. Expect a fifth season to mine the political world much more than the legal, should it proceed.

Jack Irish also moved beyond the novels of Peter Temple into original storylines as a 6 episode drama.

Both are produced by Essential Media which also produces Doctor Doctor for Nine and has Sunshine greenlit for SBS.

ABC declined to comment but reiterated its previous position that more titles will be announced in February.

  1. I would like to also see the version they made in the USA to how big a mess they made of it. The second season had way too many drug scenes in it for me but the last couple were pretty good.
