Golden Globe winning comedy-drama Atlanta will have its premiere on SBS VICELAND later this month.
The series won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. and Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for star and creator, Donald Glover, last month. Glover stars as one of two cousins navigating their way in the Atlanta rap scene.
SBS VICELAND Channel Manager, John Beohm, said: “SBS VICELAND continues to bring younger audiences unique global and local programming that explores new cultures and ideas – Atlanta is a great example this, exploring a range of social issues in a witty and humourous way.”
The series will kick off with the first two episodes on Tuesdays, and continue in double episodes each week. There are also repeats on Thursday nights and single eps on NITV. The entire series will also available at launch on SBS On Demand.
Created, co-written, and produced by lauded musician and actor Donald Glover (also known by stage name Childish Gambino), Atlanta follows the lives of Earn Marks (played by Glover), a young Princeton dropout with a two-year-old daughter, and his rapper cousin Alfred ‘Paper Boi’ Miles (Brian Tyree Henry). Earn becomes Alfred’s manager as they attempt to break into Atlanta’s music industry and improve their lives and that of their families.
