Nine News reporter Seb Costello has now been confirmed as the network’s new European correspondent, replacing Tom Steinfort.
The Melbourne-based reporter, is due to join Amelia Ballinger in London from mid-April, ahead of a new start on air in May.
Despite being the son of Nine chairman and former treasurer Peter Costello, the 30 year old has worked his way up in news reporting, including regional radio stints in Taree and Echuca, followed by positions with 3AW’s Neil Mitchell and Triple M’s breakfast show. He joined Nine in 2012.
His international reports so far have included the Dawn service in Gallipoli; Leicester City’s fabled football victory in the Premier League; Muhammad Ali’s funeral and the US hate crime attacks at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, as well as the Rio Olympics.

He started out at 3AW with all the other Liberal offspring. Whatever happened to Angus Kennett?
Regional radio before metro.
He has been commentating the Netball over the first two rounds which is an even more bizarre choice now that this has happened given he won’t see out the season.
Hamish McLachlan of Seven Sport…
His brother is the CEO of the AFL…
Wink, wink 😉
A talent in work and on the eyes. Europe have benefited from our reporters being suited to television.
Good on ya mate! 🙂
The boss’s son. It’s not what you know but who you know…
I believe Kerry Stokes has his son also on the board of Seven West Media?
He seems to be very ambitious but I have to say he is very talented and will go a long way. Good on him.
I think that’s a little unfair. He hasn’t been helicoptered in – he’s earned his stripes grafting on regional radio and being on the ground at international events for the last 9 months.
