Returning: SAS: Who Dares Wins

Four ex-Special Forces soldiers take a group of 25 new civilians deep into the Ecuadorian jungle.

SBS screens a second season of SAS: Who Dares Wins, which first aired in 2015.

Four ex-Special Forces soldiers take a group of 25 new civilians deep into the Ecuadorian jungle.

This screened in the UK in November.

Chief Instructor Ant and his elite team of ex-Special Forces soldiers take 25 new recruits to the heart of the Ecuadorian jungle to see if they’ve got the physical and mental strength to pass the toughest military entrance process in the world: SAS Selection.

The jungle phase of selection is widely seen as the toughest. On genuine selection only a small percentage make it through. Every one of the tests in the series is based on authentic SAS selection and is designed to find a unique kind of soldier for a unit that operates outside the conventional.

Physical fitness is no more than a basic requirement; what’s really being tested is resilience and character. “Would I want this man alongside me in a war zone?” is the Special Forces instructors’ all-important question.

From the minute they arrive, the recruits face grueling psychological and physical exercises. They are subjected to intense psychological profiling, sleep deprivation, endurance tests and interrogation. The hostile jungle environment, the heat and the insects take their toll, as recruit numbers fall. It’s raw and unforgiving. Only the strongest can survive.

For nine intensive days the recruits will be pushed to the limit to discover if they have the psychological strength to succeed. Most will reach breaking point and withdraw, but which recruits will be among the few who make it to the end? Will anyone have what it takes to succeed in the Special Forces?

Monday 27 March, 9.30pm on SBS.
